Chapter 16 Blog 10
I thought it was very interesting that girls have lower self-esteem than boys do, especially during adolescents. Girls are also concerned more than boys about their appearance and social success. To me this can be explained by the media. There are pictures everywhere of models and actresses. They are all very skinny and made up. If they do gain a few pounds than every magazine has a story about it. It is no wonder girls are so worried about their weight and appearance more than boys. They are constantly told through the media to be skinnier and sexier.
Another thing that I liked about this chapter was the information on cliques. I was in a clique when I was in high school. I did not realize it at the time, but I hung out with about eight girls that all played sports with me. I think that cliques can be good and bad. If they have a lot of peer preasure and are a bad influence than there could be problems, but if it is a clique that just consist of people with the same interests and like to hang out together than I think that they can be helpfull to a teen.
