Chapter 6 &9 Blog

In chapter 6 I really found that the information about infant directed speech was very interesting. The book talks about how infant directed speech is similar across all cultures. The most common features of infant directed speech include exaggerated intonation, repetition, high pitch, and many more. The theory as to why all the cultures are similar is because infants tend to respond to this specific type of speech.
In chapter 9 it talks about conservation and how children that have not mastered this concept think that two containers that are different shapes hold different amounts of liquid. I think that this example of conservation is really neat to watch. The video for this chapter had a child that had not mastered conservation yet and it is amazing how confident she was that the two containers were uneven, even though she just saw that they were even when they were in two containers that looked alike.
